Vision
“ To provide an inclusive learning environment building confident, self-directed life-long
learners and responsible citizens”.
Making our mark as special character classes is reflected
throughout our “Ngā Rautaki o te Kura”
Explicit examples of our goals are:·
- Establishing our mana as Māori by providing learning opportunities in a totally Māori environment.
- Creating and showcasing our cultural heritage through
kapahaka.
- Ensuring the tikanga and
reo of Te Arawa is taught.
Whanaungatanga
The key value ‘whanaungatanga’ embraces the concepts of relationships and
connectedness. It is through whanaungatanga that we the teachers and whānau
members of our students collaborated together to create the graduating profile
which are the philosophies underpinning room 17 and room 8s classrooms
curriculum.
Guided by the Marautanga o Aotearoa we worked in partnership to develop a graduating profile describing the
achievements we want our tamariki to have when they leave Malfroy School; a few
of these achievements are to….
-Achieve their individual potential.
·Be proud to be Māori
·Confidently represent te Ao Māori in all cultural settings and;
-Pursue lifelong learning.
We therefore offer stimulating educational experiences whilst encapsulating Malfroy School core values and
attitudes within the context of tikanga Māori.
